The Treasure Coast is three counties: Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River. Together they are 46 of our ZIP codes, our biggest region by count, and every one of them gets the same crews and pricing as the Palm Beaches. The name refers to the Spanish treasure fleet lost in a 1715 hurricane off this shore.
St. Lucie County had 329,226 residents (2020 Census), Indian River 159,788 and Martin 158,431. Port St. Lucie is by far the largest city at 204,851, while the county seats are smaller: Fort Pierce at 47,297, Stuart at 17,425 and Vero Beach at 16,354. The Indian River Lagoon runs the length of the region behind barrier islands, opening to the sea at the Sebastian, Fort Pierce and St. Lucie inlets.
A planned city of slab homes
Port St. Lucie was incorporated in 1961 on land bought for a large residential project a few years earlier, and it has grown fast ever since. Street after street is one-story concrete block on slab, built across several decades, so floors range from original tile to builder carpet to laminate that has started to swell at the seams.
Those homes are a good fit for rigid SPC plank. We pull the old floor, check the slab, grind nothing that could hold old adhesive, and set transitions at the sliders so the lanai door still clears. Our St. Lucie County page has more.
Lagoon-front and island living
Hutchinson Island, Jensen Beach, the barrier island at Vero and the riverfront around Stuart hold much of the region’s condo stock. Salt air, sand tracked in from the beach and sliders that open all day are part of daily life there.
Buildings with an association get the same care: we assemble the approval packet with you and fit the sound-rated underlayment your building requires. Where older tile sits under carpet, we have it tested before anyone pulls it up.
Frances and Jeanne
Two hurricanes made landfall at the same spot three weeks apart: Frances on September 5, 2004 and Jeanne on September 26, 2004, both at the southern end of Hutchinson Island just east of Stuart, per the National Hurricane Center. Many homes here got new roofs, drywall and floors in the years after.
Our plank is waterproof: a waterproof floor handles spills, leaks and a damp slab, plus pets and summer humidity. Standing floodwater is a different matter, and FEMA’s Technical Bulletin 2 doesn’t class vinyl as flood-damage-resistant. We install after the room is dried out and repaired.
Budgeting a Treasure Coast floor
The same range applies here as in Boca: $5 to $12 per square foot installed, before your discount, always an estimate until we measure. For scale, a 200 square foot room is roughly $1,200 to $1,900 before the discount. See the calculator.
By county: Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River. By town: Stuart, Jensen Beach, Palm City, Port Saint Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and Sebastian.
