Our South Palm Beach County region is the largest single block of our map: 41 ZIP codes across Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth and Greenacres. If you searched for flooring installation in Boca Raton or Delray Beach, this is the page for you, and each of those towns has its own page with more detail.
Boca Raton alone counted 97,422 residents (2020 Census), followed by Boynton Beach at 80,380, Delray Beach at 66,846 and Lake Worth Beach at 42,219. The southern end of the Lake Worth Lagoon reaches into this stretch, with the South Lake Worth Inlet (often called the Boynton Inlet) cutting through to the ocean. Farther south, the Intracoastal runs as a narrow channel behind the beach towns.
Condo towers, villas and board rules
Much of the housing near the water here is stacked: mid-rise and high-rise condos, garden apartments and one-story villas that share walls. Most of those buildings have written flooring rules. Typical items are board sign-off before work starts, set working hours and an underlayment rating for anything above the ground floor.
We help with the association’s approval paperwork and install the sound-rated underlayment your building requires. A vote is the board’s alone; our part is a complete submittal, built around its written rules and filed early.
The postwar build-out
Boynton Beach grew from 2,542 people in 1950 to 10,467 in 1960, and the towns around it filled in during the same decades. The result is a lot of single-story concrete homes on slab, many of them now on their second or third floor covering.
On those slabs we check flatness with a straightedge before anything is ordered, because low spots telegraph through rigid plank. Old 12 or 16 inch ceramic tile can sometimes stay in place as a base, if it’s bonded tight and the manufacturer’s instructions permit it. Older tile and the mastic under it should be tested before anyone tears it out; never sand or grind it.
After a storm or a slab leak
The National Hurricane Center’s report on Hurricane Wilma in 2005 found that parts of Palm Beach County likely had category 2 conditions as the storm crossed the state. Roof leaks after a storm and a burst supply line under a vanity are the two calls we hear about most in a region like this.
A waterproof floor handles spills, leaks and a damp slab. Standing floodwater is a different matter: FEMA Technical Bulletin 2 doesn’t class vinyl as flood-damage-resistant. We install the new floor once the room has been dried and repaired by the right trade.
What a job here costs
Budget $5 to $12 per square foot installed, before your discount. That is an estimate, and the real number comes from the free measurement. A 200 square foot room is roughly $1,200 to $1,900 before the discount, and the 50% off applies to installation labor. Try your own rooms in the calculator.
