Inside Boynton Beach homes
Boynton Beach is home to 80,380 people (2020 Census). The town was platted in 1898, incorporated in 1920, and grew fast after the Second World War, from 2,542 residents in 1950 to 10,467 by 1960.
The city sits on the mainland side of the Intracoastal Waterway, with the small towns of Ocean Ridge, Briny Breezes, Gulf Stream and Manalapan across the water. The Boynton Inlet, finished in 1927, cuts through the barrier island at the south end of the Lake Worth Lagoon. The 2020 count listed 39,731 housing units.
Houses with a few floors already under them
A city that quadrupled in ten years has plenty of homes that have been refloored more than once. We regularly lift carpet to find tile, and tile to find an older layer beneath it. What’s there decides whether we go over, take it out, or stop and test.
Asbestos was used in some older tile and in the dark glue beneath it. A sample goes to a lab first, and demolition waits for the result. If it has to stay, a floating plank over a flat surface is often the cleanest answer.
What Wilma taught Boynton Beach
Hurricane Wilma crossed the area on October 24, 2005 and damaged homes and businesses across the city. Roof leaks after a storm like that tend to soak carpet and pad first, and the smell lingers for months.
Our work starts after the drying and repairs are done. A waterproof core stands up to the next leak far better than carpet, though no floor is a defense against standing floodwater.
Condos along the waterway and west
Boynton Beach has condo and villa communities near the water and farther inland, each with its own flooring rules. Some want a specific underlayment on upper floors, others only limit the hours for work.
We read your association’s rules at the measurement, fill in what it asks for, and install the sound-rated underlayment your building requires. Approval belongs to the board, so the start date follows its letter.
Costs in Boynton Beach
A useful estimate is $5 to $12 per square foot installed, before your discount. A 200 square foot room is roughly $1,200 to $1,900 before the discount. Layered old floors and uneven slab add labor, and the measurement will show whether you have either.
