How Wellington floors get used
Wellington is a village in central Palm Beach County, incorporated on the last day of 1995. It counted 61,637 residents at the 2020 Census and 24,002 housing units, across about 45 square miles west of the coastal cities. Everything we do here runs through one ZIP, 33414.
Horses define the place. Wellington hosts the Winter Equestrian Festival from January to April, stages more than forty weeks of equestrian competition a year, and holds high-goal polo at the International Polo Club. For floors, that means grit tracked in from barns and arenas, houses that are full in winter, and owners who want the work finished before the first class of the season.
Boots at the back door
Arena sand and barn dust are abrasive. They scratch softer finishes and grind into grout lines. A 20-mil wear layer is our usual pick for mudrooms, laundry rooms and any hall between the garage and the kitchen.
Pair it with a proper walk-off mat outside and another inside. Grit stopped at the door never reaches the living room.
Planning around show season
January through April is the busiest stretch in the village, and a house hosting riders, grooms or family is a hard place to install a floor. We’d rather measure in the fall and put the floor down while the rooms are empty.
Most installs are completed in a single day once your materials arrive, so even a late booking can usually fit between arrivals. Tell us your dates at the first visit and we’ll order around them.
One floor through open rooms
If your kitchen, family room and hallway run together, one continuous plank floor looks cleaner than three materials meeting at thresholds. Long runs still need expansion space at walls and, past the length the maker allows, a discreet break.
We lay out the plank direction at the measurement so the joints follow the longest sight line and the transitions land at doorways.
Budgeting a Wellington floor
Estimates here fall at $5 to $12 per square foot installed, before your discount. A 200 square foot room is roughly $1,200 to $1,900 before the discount. Removing tile over a large open plan and leveling the slab raise the total; floating over sound tile keeps it lower. The calculator gives a starting figure, and the in-home visit turns it into a written number.
